The American Center for Mongolian Studies (ACMS) successfully participated in the “American Days” exhibition, held at Sukhbaatar Square on June 6-7, 2026.
Operating from Booth #31, the ACMS team welcomed hundreds of diverse visitors, from students and scholars to curious passersby, showcasing our ongoing educational programs, research fellowships, and institutional commitment to Mongolian studies.
A Distinguished Guest: U.S. Ambassador Richard Buangan
ACMS was deeply honored to welcome U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia, Richard Buangan, to our booth. Ambassador Buangan spent time exploring our featured mobile photography exhibition, engaging directly with ACMS staff, and learning more about the critical academic initiatives and cultural preservation work we coordinate across Mongolia.
Exhibition Feature: “Khutughtu & Lattimore” Mobile Photography
A major highlight of Booth #31 was the “Khutughtu & Lattimore” Mobile Photo Exhibition. Visitors had the rare opportunity to explore a historic archive of photographs documenting the historic journeys and heritage of Diluv Khutughtu Jamsranjav and Owen Lattimore, shedding light on Mongolia's rich spiritual and visual history. For those looking to dive deeper, the full, comprehensive exhibition was still running at the National Museum of Mongolia, where it was scheduled to continue through June 12.
Community Engagement & Outreach
Throughout the vibrant two-day exhibition, attendees who visited the ACMS booth were able to participate in several exclusive activities:
-
Exclusive Literature: Visitors purchased highly anticipated translation books by Dr. M. Saruul-Erdene (Library of Congress), including "Documents of Diluv Khutughtu" and "Letters of Diluv Khutughtu."
-
Limited-Edition Memorabilia: Attendees picked up exclusive, limited-edition exhibition postcards featuring rare archival images.
-
Institutional Membership: A few enthusiastic visitors and community members officially joined the ACMS international research network as new members.
-
Academic Programs: On-site informational sessions were conducted for our flagship summer programs, including the Mongolia Field School 2026 and our Intensive Summer Mongolian Language Programs.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to U.S. Ambassador Richard Buangan, our dedicated partners, and everyone who stopped by Booth #31 to make this event a tremendous success. We look forward to welcoming you to our future community programs and events!
