About

The American Center for Mongolian Studies (ACMS) is a private, non-profit educational organization that supports academic projects and exchanges in Mongolia. Since its founding in 2002, ACMS has provided more than $6 million in support of Mongolian Studies programs, including field research and academic exchange fellowships to over 300 scholars from the United States, Mongolia and other countries. The ACMS regularly offers experiential learning courses and Mongolian language classes, hosts monthly Speaker Series lectures, and organizes online and in-person academic conferences and workshops.

The ACMS represents a consortium of academic institutions active in the field of Mongolian Studies in North America, Europe, and Asia, and also offers an individual membership program for students, scholars, researchers, and lifelong learners. We regularly publish our monthly newsletter, This Month in Mongolian Studies, and other publications, and share frequent updates on our social media pages and YouTube channel. Additionally, our Research Library contains over 5000 volumes focused on Mongolian Studies and issues related to Mongolia, one of the largest English language collections of Mongolia-related materials in the world.

"I have been a member of ACMS for approximately 6 years. ACMS staff and fellows, and the resources that they and ACMS as a whole provide have been indispensable to my research and life in Mongolia. Aside from professional aspects, ACMS also has provided social events, wonderful friends, and a strong sense of family. In my experience there does not exist another institution of this kind in Mongolia at least not one of such a high caliber...’’
