Internet service providers
From Mongol Studies Online Reference
Most Mongolian internet service providers (ISPs) use both satellite and fiber-optic connections, though satellite use has decreased due to its expense. An independent satellite connection costs a Mongolian ISP roughly USD 6,000 per month. There is a unified gateway through the Mongolian Internet Service Providers Association (MISPA) that has allowed most ISPs to reduce their satellite connection costs to about USD 1,250 for 1 Mpbs. Land-line connections, on the other hand, only cost ISPs about USD 400 per month. A series of cost reduction measures have allowed most ISPs to be able to provide Internet access for about USD 20 per month in 2006, compared to a cost of USD 60 per month in 2004. Despite increased connectivity, Mongolian ISPs still face significant challenges stemming from the country's remoteness.
As of 2006 the total bandwidth in Mongolia through Railcom was 247 Mbps.[1]
