Help:Contents
From Mongol Studies Online Reference
For technical issues about using Mediawiki one should refer to the help pages of the Mediawiki Project or Wikipedia. Other questions about issues not covered by these two resources should be directed towards the ACMS Library at library@mongoliacenter.org. As the Online Reference grows, so too will this help section. Right now authors and developers need to depend on their own ingenuity and resourcefulness to resolve some issues of editing, formatting, and coding. It is like life in Mongolia but digitized.
[edit] Friendly Advice
Wiki's in principle are supposed to be "user-friendly." This is a loaded term because what is friendly to one user can potentially be very unfriendly to another user. Mediawiki resides in the gray area of the term user-friendly. The majority of the time you do not need much help creating or editing articles, because even where computer code is needed it is not very complex. However, sometimes things get really complex, and a more advanced understanding of computer code is necessary to resolve the problem. If you find yourself in a position where things are getting really complex, then you may actually be doing something wrong. Our friendly advice is to send the ACMS Library an e-mail at library@mongoliacenter.org to get help finding the easier way to do something difficult.
